Backpacker Magazine sold to California Company Rodale Inc. of Emmaus, PA announced the sale of Backpacker Magazine to Active Interest Media Inc. a company based in El Segundo, CA for an unrevealed amount. The Backpacker Magazine , established in 1973 provides information for hikers, backpackers and campers. It contains gear reviews but also destinations for backpacking, hiking, camping as well as other outdoor sports. Backpacker Magazine is published nine times per year and reaches a circulation of 340,000. The buyer, Active Interest Media publishes thirteen magazines related to healthy living, marine, Western Art and more.

Denali National Park: Climbing Season Starts Deadly The climbing season in Alaska’s Denali National Park started with an unusually high number of fatal accidents. Six mountaineers have died in the first month alone. Two expert mountaineers from Washington State fell when climbing downhill from Mount Denali (Mt. McKinley) which is with 6,194 m (that’s 20,320 feet) North America’s highest mountain. Both mountaineers died. Another pair of climbers died after falling from Denali’s West Rib, a demanding route.
